FAQs

What is GymMasters?

GymMasters is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation in the state of Texas.

Why was GymMasters created?

GymMasters, Inc. was founded in 1991 by Coach Kevin Mazeika to raise money to assist the parents of gymnasts to pay for the coaching costs associated with meet participation.

What is the difference between GymMasters and HGA?

HGA owns, manages and operates the facility in which the GymMasters team works out.  Parents pay a monthly tuition to HGA, which goes to cover the base salaries of the coaches.

·        Monthly tuition checks are payable to HGA and given to the front desk personnel

·    GymMasters is the umbrella organization for the team.  Team-related expenditures are handled through the GymMasters’ account.

·        Checks for team-related expenditures are payable to GymMasters and placed in the locked mailbox to the left of the drink machine in the parent observation area for the treasurer.

How does GymMasters raise money?

Almost all money is raised through donations, proceeds from the GymMasters Invitational meet, and assessments of team members.  However, GymMasters is a non-profit organization and can use any legitimate mechanism to support its activities.  Do you have good ideas?  If so, please let the Board know because if it works it will lower the team membership assessment!

What is the money GymMasters raises used to support?

  • Coaches’ expenses associated with meet participation (i.e. air fare or mileage to out-of-town meets, ground transportation, rental cars, lodging, meal per diems, session fees, etc.)
  • Cost for coaches to attend safety clinics and educational seminars mandated by the federation.
  • Equipment upgrades and purchases.
